Assuming there is a fundamental lacking in each of us, a desire to be acknowledged by an external consciousness, we confront our inevitable attachment to material objects: our own living body and the other’s. Mostly—interpersonally/economically/politically—we resist this attachment, attempting to overcome it, always failing. Enough of this. No more perpetually resisting attachment to the unavoidable conditions of physical reality (personal and external embodiment). Accept this attachment for what it is, understand it as a source of human connectedness. Comforting universality. No more contrasting the phenomenal world with an unachievable ideal. No fulfillment this way. Freedom in unified consciousness. I mean not viewing the source of desire as a lacking to be overcome—desire for an other as the fundamental state of our existence, as the way to freedom in unification.

This has been a pep talk. How are we feeling?
